For the past year the Kirwan Commission has been meeting to look at how the state of Maryland funds public education. An independent study that was presented to the commission found that Maryland is underfunding public education by over 2 Billion dollars. The Kirwan Commission is holding 4 regional meeting to get input from the public. Unfortunately, they have not be well publicized. The western region meeting is happening this Thursday at Frederick High School starting at 6:30pm. This is an important opportunity to reinforce the needs our schools, students and staff have that are not being met with the current levels of funding both from the state and the county.
Three options:
- Come and share your thoughts publically
- Attend the meeting as an interested spectator if you are not ready to speak.
- Email your comments to the Kirwan commission this week or next.
You can sign up to speak ahead of time by emailing [email protected]
OR if you can’t make it you can email your comments to the same email address.
