FCTA Statement on the Board of Education Race 2020:
This year, FCTA finds itself in the unique position where all six candidates support what is best for students, families, teachers, support staff, and public education. The candidates’ views align with FCTA’s vision of an excellent and equitable public education for all students. All six have a record of working with youth as educators or through non-profits and community organizations.
The six candidates submitted candidate questionnaires in January 2020. They met with the Joint FCTA/FASSE/FCASA Recommendation Committee in February 2020; after which the committee made the decisions to not endorse any candidate in the Primary Election. The committee re-convened after the Primary and reaffirmed their decision to not single out any candidate for endorsement. Our members are encouraged to vote for the candidates of their choice.
To help members and the community get to know the candidates, FCTA sponsored a Virtual BoE Candidate Forum on September 29, 2020. The recording of that forum can be found at https://myfcta.org/committees/government-relations/
