It is critical that you contact your legislator and let them know you expect their support of public education and Frederick County educators in the following ways….. 

They should vote YES on the Fairness in Negotiations Act.

The Fairness in Negotiations Act (FINA) supported by MSEA adds a long overdue fairness component to Maryland’s collective bargaining for K-12 employees by establishing a process for a neutral public employee labor relations board to resolve labor disputes within a timeline and issue a decision with which both parties must comply.  For more information go to www.maryalndeducucators.org/laborbill  

They should vote NO on any bill that waives the counties obligation to provide Maintanence of Effort (MoE) in school funding.

The currently proposed waiver of MoE would cost Frederick County $10 million in education funding.

They should vote No on the Education Reform Act of 2010 unless key amendments the protect local contracts are added to the bill.
